1 1/2 cups of flour, 1 1/2 cups of oatmeal, 3/4 cups of sugar
\1/4 lb Lard, 1 teaspoonful each of salt, ginger, baking
powder, and carbonate of soda and milk.
Mix all dry ingredients together put lard and treacle [what treacle!]
in a pan and warm til melted, then add half-a-cup
of milk. Stir well, and mix with other ingredients.
If too stiff add a little milk until it is the same
thickness as sponge mixture. Grease the tins well
and bake in a slow oven for three quarters of an
hour.
