Extract of Malt and Cod Liver Oil

1 lb of malt put into
3 pints of cold water
and boil to 3 gills
strain, add a pinch
of hops and boil for 1/2 hrs.
Strain, add 1 1/2 lbs of best
raw sugar, then boil for
1 1/2 hrs or until the mixture
is as thick as treacle.
Pour off and whilst cooling
stir in the oil to taste. [1]
